True distinction in litigation is demonstrated over time through repeated performance in complex matters and the consistent delivery of successful outcomes.

Rather than relying on a single data point, our framework applies a multi-factor assessment of litigation performance. Drawing on our proprietary dataset, we analyse claims by court, value, volume, outcomes and days in trial to produce a more rounded view of law firm capability. Our assessment spans six years (2020–2025), enabling us to evaluate consistency of performance over time.

The Powerhouse Algorithm gives a weighting to a range of factors before combining them into an overall score, for a balanced view of:

• Range and scale of activity: client type, claim volume and claim value

• Quality of outcomes: success rates and judgments

• Courtroom experience: days spent in select courts

This is not about rewarding firms for issuing or defending the most claims in a single year; it is about identifying those that have demonstrated sustained excellence across all the markers that matter to sophisticated litigants. The outcome is a ranking of the top law firms, grounded in hard data.
