Key highlights of the H1 report:

  • Back to business for commercial disputes – New claims up and active cases at a new high suggesting that even more plates are being spun by litigators. Winding-up petitions and activity in the Insolvency and Companies List more generally were the highest tracked since 2020.

  • Corporate risks & sector trends – The financial sector, which again leads the pack in claim volumes, closely followed by professional services. H1 was busier for the public sector and for real estate, with both sectors generating more new claims (up 17% and 10%, respectively) than in the previous six-month period.

  • Law firm market share dynamics – Law firm market share analysis shows a shift towards larger firms. The top 30 firms continue to hold a rock-solid 25% share of the market, but the top 15 firms enjoyed an almost 20% jump in market share to 19%

  • Hot topics and claims to watch – Active fraud claims remain above 700, highlighting both the scale and complexity of these cases, as well as the challenges in bringing them to swift resolution. Updates on war-related leasing claims and Covid-19 business interruption cases as the six-year limitation period looms. Plus, the top 15 most tracked cases and firms involved.
